Worship
We’re a liturgical church – which means we have a traditional, ritualized, formally structured way of worshiping that for many is deeply inspiring. We’re participatory in that we change from standing up, to sitting, to kneeling; to signing, to praying together out loud, and most people come up front to receive communion.
We believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in communion. We practice an open communion table, meaning all who believe in Christ are welcome to the table. For communion, we serve bread and small glasses of wine and non-alcoholic grape juice.
Baptism
One of the joys of Christian community is welcoming a new child of God! In the Lutheran faith tradition, this is done through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. In this ritual, the family, sponsors, and greater congregation commit to raising the child in the Christian community. We believe in one Holy Baptism and typically, we practice infant baptism – although all are invited to be baptized if they have not already!
